Playa del Carmen is a city in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, located in the center of the Riviera Maya resort area on the Yucatan Peninsula, washed by the waters of the Caribbean Sea. There are many beaches fringed by palm trees, and coral reefs stretch along the coast. On the busy pedestrian Fifth Avenue, which runs along the coast, there are shops, restaurants and nightlife for every taste - from noisy dance clubs to bars with a relaxed atmosphere.
